A clean, reliable momentum signal that cuts through noise. RSI + Signal MA Cross blends the classic RSI with a smoothing signal line and flexible price sources (including Heiken Ashi) to highlight high-probability shifts in momentum. It plots in a separate window, draws arrows at crossovers, and can alert you by popup, sound, push, or email—so you never miss a setup.

What it does

Calculates RSI on your chosen price source (Close, Open, Typical, Heiken Ashi variants, etc.).

Applies optional pre-smoothing to the input price, then smooths the RSI itself.

Builds a Signal MA of the smoothed RSI.

Buy bias when RSI crosses above the Signal MA; sell bias when it crosses below.

Arrows & dots mark live trend flips; alerts fire at the exact crossover (your choice: on bar close or intra-bar).

Multi-Timeframe (MTF) mode lets you view higher-timeframe momentum on your current chart.

How to use (simple playbook)

Attach to chart (any symbol/TF). Start with defaults.

Read the cross

Bullish: Lime RSI line crosses above the sandy-brown Signal line → consider buys while price structure agrees.

Bearish: RSI crosses below Signal → consider sells while structure agrees.

Confirm & time

Optional: set TimeFrame to a higher TF (e.g., H4) for context, trade entries on your working TF (e.g., M15/H1).

Alerts

Turn alertsOn = true. For most reliability, set alertsOnCurrent = false (alert after bar closes).

Tip: Combine with structure (breakouts/S&R) or your own risk model. The indicator is a momentum trigger, not a full system.

Key settings (what they mean)

TimeFrame: Use PERIOD_CURRENT (default) or a higher TF for MTF confirmation.

RsiPeriod (default 14): Core RSI length. Lower = faster, higher = smoother.

RsiPrice: Input price for RSI (Close/Open/High/Low/Typical/Weighted/Heiken Ashi options, incl. “better formula”).

RsiPriceSmooth & RsiPriceSmoothMet: Optional pre-smoothing of the input price before RSI is computed. Set ≤1 to disable.

SmoothingPeriod & SmoothingMethod: Smooth the RSI line itself (helps cut noise).

MaPeriod & MaMethod: Build the Signal line from RSI; this is what the RSI crosses.

alertsOn / alertsOnCurrent / alertsMessage / alertsSound / alertsNotify / alertsEmail / soundFile: Full alert suite.

Set alertsOnCurrent=false to only alert after candle close (most conservative).

arrowsVisible / arrowsOnNewest / arrows…(color/size/code/gap): Style and placement of crossover arrows.

Interpolate (MTF): Smooths higher-TF values between bars so plots look continuous.

Recommended presets (quick starts)

Scalper (fast)

RsiPeriod=9, RsiPriceSmooth=0, SmoothingPeriod=10 (EMA), MaPeriod=9 (EMA), TimeFrame=PERIOD_CURRENT.

Pros: Quick turns. Cons: More signals; manage filters.

Intraday (balanced)

RsiPeriod=14, RsiPriceSmooth=5 (SMA), SmoothingPeriod=21 (EMA), MaPeriod=14 (EMA), TimeFrame=PERIOD_CURRENT.

A smooth, responsive baseline.

Swing + MTF confirmation

Chart on H1, set TimeFrame=H4, RsiPeriod=14, SmoothingPeriod=34 (SMMA), MaPeriod=20 (EMA).

Trade H1 when crosses align with H4 momentum.

Best practices & notes

MTF behavior: In MTF mode, values update until the higher-TF candle closes. For the most trustworthy alerts, keep alertsOnCurrent=false.

Heiken Ashi inputs: Great for smoothing choppy pairs—try pr_habclose or pr_habtypical when markets are noisy.

Arrows & gaps: Arrows are offset using ATR so they don’t overlap candles. Tweak arrowsUpperGap / arrowsLowerGap if needed.

Non-repainting: Signals do not repaint after the source candle closes (like any properly coded MTF/RSI cross). While a candle is open, the line can move—that’s normal price discovery.
